Busy, busy June

I'm really excited about June. Thanks to a wonderful friend (Thanks Jen), I was gifted a spot in the Sketchapalooza class and it's underway. For those of you wondering, it's a scrapping class that provides throughout June 20 total sketches designed by some very talented ladies. Plus you get to see the takes on the sketch by all the other attendees. I've already completed 2 of the three and will work on the third one tomorrow. It's not to late to join if you are interested. The other project that is going to keep me busy is the June quilt a long. I've gotten the quilting bug and I'm so excited. The project started today over at Mommy by Day, Crafter by Night. I got all my squares, sashings and binding already cut and ready to go. Tomorrow I'm going to lay out all my squares. Next Wednesday we are going to start assembling the quilt top.

I'm so excited about June.

A scrappy post

I almost forgot I wanted to share a scrappy layout that I did for the Scrapshare weekly challenge.

More stuff from my project 38

So I haven't updated my progress on my 38 books to be read. I'm a little behind in my reading as well as my non-scrappy projects. But the latest book I've read was Clockwork Angel. It was a great read but I'm not real happy with the ending. Now I'll have to wait who knows how long for the next one to come out. However the author is releasing the next book in her other series soon. Can't wait for that.

I haven't posted any scrappy projects in a long time so here is some of the stuff I've been working on for the challenge over at Scrapbook Heaven Ga.

The first one is of my hubby and I celebrating our 6 year anniversary. The next is of the twins on our daughter's birthday playing in the leaves in the yard. The last is of our beautiful daughter.

New recipe 11 and 12

Almost caught up. No pictures for these though. But here are the two new recipes and my thoughts on them. Both came from the newest Simple and Delicious. I wore that issue out.

Best Ever Pizza - It was good. I thought the crust was a little rubbery. Don't know why. Everyone thought it was really good. I'll make it again. It's inexpensive. I'm going to try some different toppings next time.

Chili Hash - My main problem with this is one of the ingredients is Chili Starter. Can't find it. But according to what I found online it's basically beans and sauce. So that's what I used. I won't make it again. It was kinda dry and very bland. I'm used to seasonings but the first time I make a recipe I try to follow it. It needed.....a lot of things. I would drop the peas and add corn. My dad sat and picked all the peas out of his. He had a plateful of peas left over.

I'll have one more to talk about tomorrow and maybe a layout. It's been awhile since I've posted anything scrappy.

Shopping

As an avid scrapper one would expect me to spend a lot of money walking into Joann's on scrapping supplies. However, yesterday as an early Valentines gift I went shopping. I only bought 4 sheets of cardstock and a bottle of glossy accents. The rest of the money......fabric. For two different projects mind you. I'm going to get started on a lap quilt as a gift and then I'm going to tackle something a little bit harder (for me anyway). Can you tell I may be becoming obsessed with quilting? I'll post a sneak peak at the fabric for my next project. It may let me know who reads this. I also looked at a lot of yarn but figured I have 2 projects started that need to be finished and I have a third that I need to start. Plus I have about 10 balls of yarn that haven't even been opened yet. Guess I should do something with all that stuff first huh? That's if Isis (the newer kitty) doesn't eat it all first.

Hmmm.....updates

Guess I should have said a little of what went on in life between my last post in August to the present.

Eragon had surgery at the end of September to have a mass removed from his back. It was cancerous and unfortunately came back the day after my birthday and the day after I came back from my scrap retreat in Alabama. He left this world on November 3. Thankfully it was a busy weekend so I didn't have a lot of time to dwell on it.

Mom and I went to the grand opening of Archivers on the fourth where she proceeded to get most of my Christmas shopping done. On the fifth we celebrated Jina's 16th birthday. That doesn't seem possible but I guess time does fly. We had a dinner at Logan's and then hung out at the Family Fun Center.

Thanksgiving was great. Shannon's family joined us for dinner this year so it was a busy big meal.

Oh the Saturday before Thanksgiving we got a new kitty and we named her Isis. She's a little insane but she fits right in.

Christmas was great as always. Santa was good to all three kids and the adults all got a little something we all really wanted. New Years was a blast. We had some new comers to the festival this year and it was so good to see Shirley and meet her new beau Michael.

So we are up to the present and I promise I'll post a few pics eventually.

Scrapping in and of itself is difficult sometimes.  You have to have the right mindset and a variety of other factors.  So when a 16# cat decides to make himself at home in the middle of your layout it kinda complicates things.

It's scrappy time.  I'm working on two challenges at a time.  I'm trying to get the weekly sketch challenges completed for Scrapshare so I am combining them with the Scrapbook Heaven challenges.  This SB Heaven challenge called for using mostly black and white papers with minimal color.  But it had to include a heart somewhere.

With Father's Day coming up I needed to make some cards.  Thankfully the gals at Scrapbook Heaven are having a crop all summer long and this card came from Jules.  Thanks for the inspiration!!

It's been a little bit since I've posted any layouts.  I did this layout for my week to host the weekly sketch challenge on Scrapshare.  It will got in my 2010 zoo album.
